even the stars turn stupid

a shuddering ,shivering walrus ,
and the vulture with aching claws.
a colony of ants that isnt curious,
or a shark in sea without its jaws

"we are the way we are made",
this - the persistent excuse
that we inherently produce, to our plans best laid
that hit the dust like a beggars feet in heavy shoes.

a tree or an elephant without a trunk
or a skunk that never stunk
life of a cheetah that never runs
and a comedian who only puns

sometimes
even the stars pinned to the sky turn stupid
even the sun dulls against the moon,
even sense turns blind when eyes pour out the pain
even the politicians naive in there vein,

innocently we can poison a snake
and alter a gene to dwarf a whale
even reason with an obtuse and thougtless male
and do anything we see fit
but don't we see fit -the possibility
that apart from what we were made like
apart from the powers we were or weren't given
apart from all that we can sometimes
contrary to "we are the way we are made",
change

as sometimes
even the stars pinned to the sky turn stupid
even the sun dulls against the moon,
even sense turns blind when eyes pour out the pain
and even the politicians naive in their vein.

  • all i can say is that i liked this, maybe coz of the fact that even when it talks about things that dont happen (giving a vague idea of rebellion against nature), it is still very calm and lacks aggression....................
the poem does not make anybody try for a change , and seems like it ends up making people accept whats there.
its like those things written on a lazy sunday afternoon while giving a semi-serious thought to the nathure around you........out of the box, unnatural and still very calm, lazy and inactive.........

good one, but certainly not the best Abhishek Gupta is capable of....:)
